That Was The Week That Was - 9th March 2025

With the publication of Certain Irregularities last week, this week was centered around fulfilling those orders – printing, packing and shipping. I still love sending things in the mail, signing bits of paper with personal messages and placing them in a box on the street for them to appear somewhere else in the world a few days later. It saddens me that Denmark is now ending the ability to send letters – but I get it. It's a sadly dying practice, but one I'll still do for as long as I can.

With the seeming success of these plotted prints I've been working on new ideas, all built from generative systems but realised in an analog form. It's also been nice to fire-up Processing again. I've also been buying various bits of paper ephemera for an idea I'm percolating which fits my remix and reuse / ready mades modus operandi.

Mid-week saw the closing of the Christie's auction. I was happy to see my work sell, to who I have no idea yet but hopefully I'll be able to find out eventually.

I moved my Dawesome Digest newsletter over to Substack and it gave me the jolt I needed to start writing and sending it out more regularly. Mailchimp had become this bloated beast of a thing whereas Substack is very light weight. No need to worry about the design – just write stuff, add images and send. It also seems to be much more about community than Mailchimp ever was. I love the notes thing where you can just send off an update without the gravitas that can come from writing a newsletter. I sent it out and immediately got some new subscribers. You can subscribe here if you'd like.
