The Moustache by Emmanuel Carrère

The main character wakes one morning and for a joke shaves off his moustache. When nobody notices, and even worse they deny he ever had a moustache it sends the protagonist into a spiral of paranoia and madness. Loved the ending which just leaves you with many questions.
