Goodbye magneticNorth

I can finally announce – following a brief period as part-time Creative Consultant – I have now officially left magneticNorth.

For ten years I was the Creative Director of mN – a period of my life I look back on with very happy memories, incredibly proud of the work the mN team created over that time and consequently the creative reputation we garnered during those ten years. One of the things I'm most proud of is when someone from another design company turned to me and said "everyone knows what magneticNorth stands for". There's no point in doing this stuff if you don't do what you believe in; you have to put a flag in the ground and say "this is us, take it or leave it". Thankfully over the years many people believed in the same things I and the majority of the people at mN believed in too.

Of course nothing stays the same, nor should it. It's now time for me to move on. In truth that process had already begun with the creation of the now defunct Beep Industries; it now continues apace in other ways and I'm incredibly excited with what the future holds. What is that exactly? Well there's no plan, just a continued commitment to stay curious, play properly, learn new things and see what comes out of that process. Watch this space.

I wish the team at mN continued success – there's some exceptionally talented people there and I was proud to be part of that team for a large part of my career. Now I look to the things I have ahead of me and relish the new challenges, opportunities and the shape of things to come.
