Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

This is a remarkable book in so many ways, not least it was written by Mary Shelley as a response to the challenge of writing a horror story whilst on holiday with Byron and Percy Shelley.

When you read the book you realise how Hollywood have misrepresented this work since it was first put to film. The monster is not some dumb, stupid collection of parts but an intelligent being who attempts to deal with emotions as it traverses the world. It’s a book about ego, power, love, responsibility to others, loneliness and so much more. Incredible.
