That Was The Week That Was — 15th March 2026
We’re currently experiencing some issues setting up the Google Meet call, so we’ll be hosting the meeting on our platform, Riverside instead.
— Scammer
Alarm bells rang loud and clear when I got this message just before I was due to have a call with a company who wanted to talk about commissioning me for an installation in New York. As soon as I read those words, were they suggest installing special software to just have the call, I did some more digging and discovered their domain was slight different than the real one — using .ltd instead of .com. After a WHOIS lookup I found that domain had only been registered a few weeks before. After I asked them to email me from the real .com domain I never heard from them again.
This has happened numerous times before were people get in touch, pretending to be someone else and wanting you to install software, which no doubt locks up your computer, installs key loggers and worse. Unfortunately I now have to view every email I get from my website as a scam unless they prove otherwise.
When I wasn't fending off scammers, I listened to programs about randomness as well as Nancy Mitford, took calls about current and new projects together and explored various experiments in layout and type.
