That Was The Week That Was — 15th February 2026

Lots of type experiments this week, created in Houdini and also Touch Designer.

In Houdini the minpos() method is great for constraining particles onto a surface. For the render below I threw the geometry into a COP network to create 2D images. I like the starkness of the black and white composition.

I then took the same idea into Touch Designer for some real-time action, this time using Ray casting to create a similar effect.

Delved into the Blend POP node, which can blend between geometries, first doing a blend over time from a heavily quantised set or particles to ones that are free flowing.

Then I used the UV coordinates to map the blend from top to bottom, data to poetry.

Also had a play getting familiar using the Skin POP node to skin trails. Thanks to Sarv, a consistent line resample and then creating sets of skins to that length plus one is the key to success.
