That Was The Week That Was — 22nd September 2019

When I have a bit of down time I try and use that time to learn new things or new techniques that I might later use in my work. So this week I've been looking at growth patterns in Houdini, inspired by an Entagma video, and then iterating from them to involve typography, using the lovely Crayonette typeface from David Jonathan Ross which I got as part of the Font of the Month Club.

I saw something that William Gibson said on Twitter and it stayed with me. Why don't we see people referencing the 22nd Century in the same way they used to reference the 21st Century? I wonder if it's because we now believe we live in this much promised future?

Alex Buznik emailed me to say he had completed his version of my Plastic Player music controller. It's always very rewarding to see projects you open source actually get made and iterated on.

Sometimes, when it seems the world is going to shit, I take solace in nice stationery. Like these solid brass paper clips. It's the little things that make the difference.
