Flippin' Big Remote

A Stupidly Large Remote Control

Having built my own presentation software that I now use for the talks I get asked to do I felt there was one element missing – a self-built, wireless remote control; the hardware for the software.

Using some xBee radios that have been languishing in a drawer unloved for years together with some very large arcade buttons and an Arduino Fio the Flippin' Big Remote was born. It works great and has really become part of the presentations I do or at least truly represents me an my attitude to making things.

Of course this is probably never going to make it through Airport security and it is a little too big, so with all that in mind I'm making a soft circuit version using felt, neoprene and conductive fabric. Should hopefully stop me from being arrested.
