For Sale: Makerbot Thing-O-Matic

07.01.13

After two years of wonderful service I'm now upgrading my Makerbot to a Replicator 2 so it's time to sell my beloved Makerbot Thing-O-Matic for the bargain price of £500.

Built by myself in 2010, this is the original Makerbot Thing-O-Matic 3D printer, serial number 003161. Over the years I've upgraded various parts: new Aluminium build platform, new Extruder MK6 and 0.4mm nozzle (original 0.5mm nozzle included as well). It also comes with a spool holder – printed on the Makerbot of course – nuclear green 1.75mm reel of ABS (about half full) plus a full reel of purple ABS. I also upgraded the power supply, which sits outside of the machine. Red LEDs have also been fitted to make it even more awesome!

Since owning the Makerbot it's given me a lot of pleasure not to mention been super useful as well as lots of fun. It's now looking for a new home ideally with someone who likes to tinker with this kind of stuff; occasionally it can be a little temperamental but that's part of the joy of owning a Makerbot Thing-O-Matic. If you're looking to get stuck into the world of making physical objects then this could be the machine for you.

All the above is just £500. Shipping is via UPS (mainland UK only) but if you're around Manchester or Liverpool I'm sure we can arrange a more suitable pick-up or something.
